For the general public, the verdict of whether or not a topical skin care cream can actually treat wrinkles is still out. It really just depends on where you look and who you ask. The debate is growing and seems to be as polarizing as one could imagine. Do wrinkle creams really work? Just about every magazine out there has done a story and there are literally thousands of wrinkle cream review sites that weigh these decisions daily. Why then do customers continue to question the validity of wrinkle creams and anti-aging serums?
It is a strange dynamic to have two groups of thoughts when it comes to anti-aging treatments: the believers and the non-believers. The topic is naturally of interest to us, as we want each of clients to enjoy the treatments that we offer each day. We set out to find just how much a person’s mindset and pre-determined opinions play a role in whether or not they believe that a wrinkle cream can actually work.
We tested some of the top rated products on the market on both types of consumers, mixing in a placebo as a control. While we expected to see some similarities based upon both groups pre-determined feelings, however we were shocked to see just how divided the results were. Furthermore, we were amazed by just how many people who thought they were getting a treatment they believed would work, chose the placebo as the best anti-aging treatment they have used.
What does this tell us? Well it tells us that if we believe that we are using a quality treatment that will deliver the results we desire, we have a far better chance of being satisfied with the product. Contrary, if we do not think that these creams and serums will work at all, seldom are we surprised and satisfied.

While scientists are able to document reduction in wrinkles and the reversal of aging under microscopes and in laboratories, most consumers have only the mirror and their untrained eye to determine whether or not a product is working. Combine that with an impatient society that prefers results immediately, rather than understanding just what a topical wrinkle cream can and cannot do, and consumers are often left frustrated and in disbelief.
If delivering a product that satisfies your clients is important, then it goes without saying that we must establish not only reasonable expectations for our consumers, but also be sure that they believe that the product will work. For this reason, Dermagist clients are urged to investigate the clinical studies of our products, and to speak with representatives who can explain exactly what the products will do and in what time frame. Creating positive and realistic expectations for yourself can be the difference between you realizing the anti-aging benefits you have been waiting for.
